Rahul Gandhi Slams Modi on Make in India and Economic Failures

Rahul Gandhi Slams Modi on Economic Issues

Rahul Gandhi condemned Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his failure to execute the "Make in India" scheme effectively. Initially, the idea had appeared to be quite promising, but Gandhi believes that the scheme only made it easier for China to capture India's market instead of promoting domestic production. Gandhi highlighted that whereas India has always had a hard time with domestic production, China is still at a production edge. He warned that if war came to India, she would be obliged to fight on Chinese-made equipment, and in this, India was at a disadvantage.

Gandhi lamented that this government could not stimulate domestic production, and, on the pretext of a technological revolution, said that much of the manufacturing remains dependent on China. He believed India should align with the US to overtake China and should reform the necessary institutions, proposing that the process of development would include the modernization of backward segments of society as well.

He further condemned the media coverage over Modi by accusing them of biased coverage toward the government, where the other party's side cannot get an adequate hearing. Gandhi also accused that voter lists in Maharashtra are filled with flaws and errors which went in favor of the BJP, and hence he requested action on the issue by the Election Commission. Gandhi appealed to the state's unemployment issue be brought at the center.

In a speech recently, Gandhi pointed to the political storm raging within Parliament, as the ruling party had been consistently disrupting Parliament. He mentioned the statement of the chief of army who was recounting Chinese presence on Indian soil and noted political turmoil as a repetition of such issues in the past. Furthermore, Gandhi criticized Modi for his foreign policy decisions, specifically sending the foreign minister to the US without addressing pressing internal concerns, particularly in manufacturing.

Gandhi clarified that he was merely pointing out the problems facing India's domestic growth and the government's failure to act on critical issues. He also apologized if his words had caused any confusion or difficulty, stating that his intention was to hold the government accountable for its inaction.
